Excel
Air Tool was founded in 1977 by its current owner Ray
Hrovat. Its initial focus was to be an extension of manufacturer
representation for air tools in the local Cleveland area.
Excel began with two main product lines focusing on basic
air impact and assembly tools.
Eventually, Excel began to attract other supplier/manufacturers
interested in having local representation in Northeast
Ohio. In the 1980s Mr. Hrovat leased a larger facility
in the Cleveland area and began adding sales people and
office personnel as his customer base grew.
By the 1990s Excel had expanded its product lines to include
everything from hand tools and assembly workstations to
sophisticated DC Electric tools and controllers. In 1994
it was decided that a facility would be opened in Cincinnati
to service the tri-state region of Ohio, Kentucky, and
Indiana. This office continues as a fully functional operation
which includes a stocking inventory, a customer service
department, and an outside sales engineer force.
Excel's growth path continued. In 1995 Mr. Hrovat purchased
Excel's current headquarters in Cleveland; a 20,000 square
foot building that includes front office, inventory warehouse,
an inside & outside sales force, and tool repair/calibration
facilities. As orders began to come in from other regions,
a Rochester NY office for Excel was opened in 1996.
Sales continued to grow through the 1990s. In 2000 Excel
made strategic decisions to implement significant innovations
in technology and in enhancing quality control. These
enhancements include Customer Relationship Management
CRM, the development of an interactive on-line order system
(e-commerce) www.excelairtool.com, and attainment of ISO
9002 certification.
Excel Air Tool now offers tool automation and accessories
from over 40 manufacturers. It ships orders to customers,
and receives tools for repair, across the country and
Globally. Excel has committed itself to embracing the
latest technology in assembly tool distribution while
remaining true to the traditional values and best practices
that created its success from its inception. Excel Air
Tool Co. began, and remains today, a solely owned family
business. |
